Taz's Story Not just a Source of Funding…
We received this letter from one of our volunteers…Hi! It’s Betty here… I recently responded to a call from a family wondering if we could pay for obedience classes for their dog, Taz. After talking to the family , it became very clear that Taz, a mini Dachshund, was not the right dog for their family. They had a baby in the house and Taz was just too much dog for them! They agreed that Taz was not in the right home and wondered if we could help. It just so happened that one of the volunteers at the animal shelter got a call from someone who was inquiring about a companion dog for a disabled woman. Taz fit exactly what they were looking for! He moved right in with the woman her care-giver. Now known as Taz the Spaz, he loves and protects his new family. He is their little baby and is very loved by his new parents! It feels very good to help two families with no money and just a few phone calls! Betty Smith, Volunteer This story also has a good lesson… When looking at expanding your family to include pets, don’t make decisions based on cuteness alone! Most breeds have very predictable personalities and with a little homework, the best companion can be easily found! Not every dog is for every family, but every dog has a home somewhere…please help these little guys live out full, happy lives!
