Pee
Wee's Story... In Memory of a Friend...
David
Thurston's little orange and white cat, Pee Wee, was a very
sweet and
loving companion. When Pee Wee became very ill, David found
himself unable to finance
vet costs. His sister Judy called “all over
the
place”, trying to find a vet that would see him. The days
passed and Pee Wee’s condition grew worse. “Finally
I was
given the name of a lady, Megan Bendtzen, from The Bearen Foundation.
She had a certificate for a free exam so we took Pee Wee in
to The Vet Hospital.”
Pee
Wee required X-rays. Since the cost of the exam was covered,
Judy and David were able to put what they had toward the cost
of the X-rays and The Bearen Foundation covered the rest. Tests
revealed that Pee Wee had a hole in his diaphragm. The Vet Hospital
was very helpful, working out a payment arrangement with the
Thurstons for surgery. Little Pee Wee went through two surgeries
before it was discovered that he had feline leukemia. There
was nothing else that could be done. Pee Wee was put to rest
on November 25, 2000.
Although
Pee Wee’s story ends with a mournful loss, Judy and David
are comforted by knowing that they did everything they could
to help their good friend, and that his memory will live on
in their hearts.
"We
miss and think of Pee Wee all the time. Thank you to Megan Bendtzen
and The Veterinary Hospital for everything you have done."
