Oscar’s
Story
My
cat Oscar has been a special part of my life for 11 ½
years. In January 2003,
Oscar developed a limp and upon touching his leg, I discovered
a large mass. Thinking it was no big deal, I took him to my
vet, Dr. Teri Sue Warren.
I
was very scared when Dr. Warren informed me the mass was not
good and that the leg would have to come off. Many thoughts
raced through my mind; How would Oscar be? Would he adapt to
3-legged life? How was I ever going to be able to afford the
nearly $500 so far with possibly $500-600 more in service fees?
This
was the hardest decision to make. A later biopsy revealed it
was cancer. X-rays showed it had not spread so the chance of
recovery after amputation was very high. Dr. Warren, knowing
how much I love my cat and knowing how this was putting me into
financial ruin, told me about The Bearen Foundation.
She
contacted them and through their generosity, $100 was donated
to Oscar. Though it won’t cover everything, it will help.
And simply knowing that there are wonderful people like The
Bearen Foundation willing to help others in need makes this
a little easier.
Thank
you from me and Oscar.
