Dozer's Story
The
six month old Rottweiler pup lay stricken by parvo, a cruel
and deadly infection. His humans
were
desperate. Five days until payday and lacking the financial
resources for treatment, "We had spent three days searching
for help to no avail". Having failed to find a veterinary
facility "that would accept the $150 we had and let us
make payment arrangements", they were offered "apologies
and suggestions on how we could borrow the money, take out
a title loan" or have him euthanized.
"We
were forced to watch Dozer slowly dying, suffering and deteriorating
from this treatable, curable disease.... We had to make a
decision; Dozer's condition was so severe that he could not
even hold his head up, lying there in his own saliva as the
infection grew into his intestines........He was scheduled
to be euthanized that afternoon."
"Then
we got the call; Megan from the Bearen Foundation had heard
about Dozer from the Humane Society. She called her personal
veterinarian and made arrangements for Dozer to begin treatment
immediately and the Foundation covered the rest of the required
initial deposit. The veterinarian was caring enough to work
out a payment arrangement for the rest of the costs."
"It
took six days for Dozer to get well enough to come home. Without
the Bearen Foundation, Dozer would be just a memory, but,
instead, thanks to the Bearen Foundation, he is a memory we
can enjoy everyday."
"We
would like to personally thank Megan, founder of the Bearen
Foundation, for her help and dedication in paving Dozer's
road to recovery."
A
very happy end to an all-too-common story. Megan and the Bearen
Foundation want more stories to end this way. We can make
the difference between life and death with your help and the
loving, selfless commitment of pet owners such as Dozer's,
two people who were willing to give their last $150 so that
a beautiful and beloved friend can live to enrich all our
lives.
